Health Care… Who needs it!?!

This entire thing has more turns in it than a windy road weaving through the Grand Canon. I honestly don’t get the debate between a public option, private option, government option… how about an option that guarantees every American citizen health coverage! It’s very simple as far as I can tell - nobody should go broke because they can’t afford health insurance and certainly nobody should die because they get sick!
healthcare The very notion that the Dems sit with a filibuster proof senate and can’t seem to make some serious strides to getting this thing passed is to me - (to quote the Princess Bride) INCONCEIVABLE! They hold the largest majority has ever held in a generation and yet they still pussy foot around. All it say to me that you’ve got two parties that are in major influence Republicans and Democrats. We as citizens need to choose a party we feel is the lesser of two evils. Me I decided I was going to be a Dem, to me Democrats are the better politicians. They approach things in a way that leaves discussion on the table, they allow you an opinion and try and work with everyone. I always thought that is was a great trait - the ability to see both sides of an argument even if you weren’t going to be dissuaded from your original point of view. So I always strive to hear all sides.

But here’s the thing, at this point in the program the very thing I hated and despised about George W. Bush I wish I could infuse it into the Democratic party! Because in my estimation the Dems have been nice enough, now they need to put this thing on the end of a bat and start cracking people over the head with it! And yes hard enough so they need health care!  It’s exhausting to watch it get bounced from pillar to post only to walk away with nothing over and over again!  Frankly I’ve had it and I want something past!

This whole thing stinks of money.  I’ve always said and I really do believe - if you want to find the problem, follow the money trail.  Why are our prescription medications so expensive while Canada (same continent by the way) is selling the same drug for a fraction of the cost?  Contracts - follow the money trail.  It’s all craziness, it’s all insane and honestly I’m a little fed up.

Oh, I should tell you that I work for an employer that provides excellent health coverage (Elected Official excellent) so I come from a good place where I can see this whole thing without the duress that someone without would have.   I currently don’t have the pressure of being sick in this country and not being able to afford to do anything about it.  If I got sick, I would make an appointment and go see the doctor - plain and simple.  But if you don’t have health coverage than you’re coming in from a different angle.  An angle that watches these discussions day in and day out and is probably four times as flabbergasted as I am about it.

prescription-drugsAnd prescription drugs!  Don’t get me started (too late I already got myself started)!  We live in the richest nation in the world, and yet we have senior citizens making decisions like whether to turn the heat up of take there blood pressure medication.   Or keeping the heat slow low it’s ineffective and they crack their pills in half - that’s the America we live in!    Land of the free and home of the brave, it just turns out that the “free” are the wealthy and the brave are the poor that we march into war so they can get their asses blown off and when they return home all they get is a frigging parade! That’s not the America I want to live in and frankly I want the bungholes that got overwhelmingly elected to office to pay attention to that and just start cracking some heads.  We need to push this issue through the senate and get it signed into law!  We need to stop loligagging around the issue and just get it done - Health Care is a right much like air is, it’s there and everyone should have access to it whether they need it or not!  What the hell is up with that?
