Mass Hysteria or Commonwealth Confusion?
With the Republicans down they hand the ball off the their sixth man off the bench Scott Brown. The Dems are playing man coverage, Martha Coakley picks up Brown at half court and now she’s just standing there – she’s not doing anything. There’s only 2 ticks left on the clock & Brown is frantically looking to pass the ball but nobody’s there to help, we’re down to 1 second Brown had better doing something… and he does! He pulls up for three as time expires and……… NAILS IT!!!! Brown nails a three pointer at the buzzer and the Republicans loose by 9. And that’s exactly what we’ve got here – so slow your roll!
Martha Coakley only has one person to blame here and that’s Martha Coakley. Seriously. I’m a state away and I knew she was taking the folks of Mass for granted. I knew that she was not campaigning, I knew she wasn’t shaking hands. I knew she wasn’t taking advantage of every opportunity to speak about her credentials. I knew it. Now maybe I knew it because I work in the media and saw first hand that invites that were passed her way which she refused! I’m not sure who was advising her but that person should be taken out back and have the ever living shit kicked out of them, then stick them on the Fox Network to star in a reality TV show so we can watch them die a slow painful death.
So as every Democrat returns to their corner and begins to spin this off them in a round of political gamesmanship, I’m here to say don’t. Just point your finger at Martha Coakley then get her the hell out of the state - maybe Leiberman will take her, he’s the last bad thing that happened to the Democratic Party.
But now I’m hearing wranglings that this was some sort of referendum handed down by the commonwealth to the Obama Administration that they’re against his policies. Again, I’m here to tell you that a month ago Martha Coakley had a 30 point lead and Scott Brown got in his pick up and started to campaign. Martha Coakley watched someone fall while on the campaign trail and keep walking. Scott Brown hit the streets. Martha Coakley watched for weeks as her numbers dropped and she did nothing. Meanwhile Scott Brown gets out of his GMC Pick ‘um up truck and continues to on the stump. Martha Coakley begins to chew on the stump. So it’s not that Scott Brown was so brilliant, it has more to do with Martha Coakley being… well shit on the upper lip of everyone in the Bay State.
Welcome to the great vacillation nation that I call America. I am whole heartily convinced that we should no longer put fluoride into our water supplies. Nope, we should replace it with Ritalin and get this country to focus on something other than the next episode of American Idol. Lest us not forget that for eight years George Bush and his cronies anally raped this country over and over again. When they done sodomizing everyone they used the constitution as their clean up rag. Yet, we’ve all sort of forgotten that haven’t we. Well I haven’t and I know I’m not alone. When Obama took office he inherited two wars, a recession, a middle class that was being choked on a daily basis, corporations that feed off the little guy, record-breaking deficits, a Republican healthcare system that was simple - don’t get sick, a country that was viewed as international clowns, and a complete neglect of the environment. When Obama took office he had to turn the US around and get it back on the right track, after all it took the previous administration 8 years to screw us this hard.
On another quick note. And trust me I’m not being a prude here. But I just think it’s really hypocritical that a candidate for a major political office did a nudey spread and wasn’t called to task. If this was Martha Coakley’s spread she would have been roasted alive and that would be why she didn’t win the election - trust me. Again, I don’t care - I’m merely pointing out a huge double standard here.
So Brown breaks up the super majority - so what. The Dems weren’t doing anything with it anyway. If my math is correct it’s still 59 to 41 in the senate and an overwhelming lead at Pennsylvania Ave. So instead of hoping Obama fails let’s figure out how to help him succeed, because we can’t afford 4 more years of political wrangling while you and I pay the price. What the hell is up with that?
